This was one of the first Redwall series novels I read, and it is definitely one of the best. Mattimeo is a bit headstrong, but he grows enormously as the tale progresses, and he becomes a mouse that Matthias is proud to call his son. An excellent tale in the series, and it also takes the reader further from Redwall than almost any other book in the series. A marvelous adventure.
